Flying insects are unhygienic and a nuisance. In recent years variations in our climate have allowed malaria carrying mosquitoes to reach southern England and the risk of insect borne disease is expected to continue to increase. Flying insects enter homes and workplaces through open windows and doorways, usually attracted by bright lights and food.
Using a fly screen allows you to enjoy the fresh air while keeping insects out, reducing the associated health risks. Contamination of food is well know as one of the most common means of disease transmission. The common house fly is a know carrier of typhoid and dysentery. The most common cause of diarrhoea in Britain is Campylobacter. Flies are thought transmit the bacteria by regurgitating and defecating on to food. Using fly screens can help business to comply with Food Safety Legislation.
The food safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulation1995, of the Food Safety Act 1990, states that:
"In rooms where food is prepared, treated or processed (excluding dining areas) - windows and other openings must be constructed to prevent the accumulation of dirt. Those which can be opened to the outside environment must where necessary be fitted with insect-proof screens which can be easily removed for cleaning."
Face fits, inside or outside, to window frame or the wall outside the reveal. If your window opens out the screen will be fitted on the inside and vice versa. The aluminium powder coated cartridge fits across the top of the aperture and section of track fit down both sides. The mesh screen is extended using a handle on the edge of the mesh, and releases easily to roll back smoothly into the cartridge when not needed. This neat fly screen retracts directly into its cartridge when not in use and has slim line side tracks. These screens are ideal to be used in offices and homes and are all made to measure.
